Best Coffee Beans In Cape Town : Best overall coffee experience
Despite Cape Town’s small size compared to Johannesburg, it boasts double the number of coffee roasteries. Cape Town’s artsy vibe and trendy atmosphere, makes it home to some of the best coffee and coffee beans in the country.
We constantly are on the lookout for great coffee beans so we can continuously improve our coffee bean range and we found some real gems in Cape Town. One nice thing about the coffee scene in the Cape is the fact that most of the coffee producers there are micro-roasters and not big commercial outfits. It is not uncommon to see the owner behind the bar, brewing up his patrons favourite coffee beverage.
We sampled a large portion of the micro-roasters in Cape Town to compile this “best coffee beans in Cape Town” list. Please note the list is in no particular order – just the top five coffee beans producers/roasters/eperiences we could find.
- Truth Coffee – Truth coffee definitely brings a touch of class to Buitenkant street. Truth coffee boasts a prestigious list of hotels and resorts as some of its customers. Zimbali lodge, the Plettenberg and the Cellers-Hohenhort are just a few on their impressive list. The Vengeance and Resurrection coffee blends are two of their must-try creations.
- Origins Coffee – Origins coffee roastery is one of the bigger coffee roasteries on Cape Town and compliments its trendy coffee shop atmosphere with a great tea section. On top of having great coffee and great baristas, they make a mean sandwich and it is the perfect destination for a weekend breakfast.
- EspressoLab -EspressoLab micro-roasters are fortunate enough to call the Old Biscuit Mill their home. Great packaging complimented by awesome friendly Baristas made this on-the-go coffee experience, one not to be missed.
- Bean There Coffee Co – Bean There can’t claim Cape Town as its home town, but does have a nice presence in the Cape. Bean there has long-time been famous with Joburgers and was the first roaster in South Africa who really introduced South Africans to fair-trade coffee beans. Bean There produces great African Coffee in Braamfontein and Cape Town CBD and they retain their unmistakable “do-good” feeling when you walk through their doors.
- Thirst Bar Services – Not a roaster of coffee beans, but great artists when it comes to producing a great looking coffee. Thirst bar services are primarily famous for their cocktails and event bar services but they can create a coffee experience like none other. Latte Art of the highest order, and baristas with the most flair make Thirst bar services a great final inclusion in the “best coffee in Cape Town” list
