Nespresso surely needs no introduction. George Clooney is in many circles better known as Nespresso’s brand ambassador than he for many of his movie rolls.   • Coffee Machine Overview: The Inissia is currently Nespresso’s entry level unit and also happens to be their smallest unit out of their South African range. This unit has a water tank capacity of 800 ml making it perfectly sizes for 4 cups between fills (more if espresso is your drink of choice). The Inissia like all other units features an automatic shutoff after you have programmed the unit to fill coffee to your desired level.

  • Coffee Machine Overview: The U comes in both milk and non milk versions. The U is one of the sleekest Nespresso units and derives its name from its “U” shape. The U also features a moveable water tank allowing it to sit directly behind the unit or to the side of the unit if space is a problem

  • Coffee Machine Overview: The Pixie used to be the smallest Nespresso machine available in South Africa and people might remember it form the adverts showing the three funky colours available. The Pixie used to (and sometimes still is) accompanied by a travel bag to ensure that you never go a second without your shot of coffee. The Pixie is the same price as the U, so ones decision about which unit to opt far is largely based on Aesthetic preference.

  • Coffee Machine Overview: The U Milk is identical to the U except it features a Nespresso milk frother which enables users to make cappuccinos on the go. It is one of the cheapest Nespresso milk/cappuccino options available so if you want cappuccinos on a budget this machine could be the machine for you

Whilst other “cappuccino” options rely on a separate milk frother, the Nespresso Lattissima is a self-contained option which makes all ones milk specialities at the touch of a button. The user is also able to alter the consistency of the milk froth enabling him/her to switch between lattes and cappuccinos.

  • Coffee Machine Overview: The Gran Maestria is the top of the range Nespresso machine. If you want to unleash the inner Barista in you, this might be the machine for you. Featuring a frother as well as a steamer, you can control everything form your espresso water quantity to your froth consistency. Coming in at over R7000 isn’t cheap especially for a capsule machine, however the true purists will not be disappointed by this unit

Conclusion:

Capsule coffee machines might not be the right fit for all environments due to the high cost of the coffee capsules and their small design however for domestic and very small office use, capsule coffee machines can be a great fit.
