Saeco Minuto Overview: Pros and Cons Explained
Yes, yes, we have already reviewed the Saeco Minuto; heck, we’ve even done a few video reviews on it, too! But we thought that since we are launching this beautiful little piece of machinery into our realm of coffee machine solutions for the home user – we should offer a little insight into the pro’s and con’s of this machine. Take a seat – we’re going to tell you all that’s good and all that’s bad about this little beast.
Saeco Minuto Coffee Machine: Who’s it for?
Considering the size of this machine, the time it takes to brew a cuppa as well as the capacity of the bean hopper and water canister – we would not recommend this machine to an office with a staff complement of over 5 daily users. It’s just going to put undue pressure on the machine and cause unwanted wear and tear. It’s an amazing fit for people who enjoy premium coffee, cappuccino and Espresso’s at home. If you appreciate one-touch, bean-to-cup café quality coffee’s at the touch of a button, you’ll be glad to know this might be just the right option for you.

We’ve done an in-depth cost and product comparison for your home-cappuccino’s option. I’d recommend you read through this before you rent or buy the Saeco Minuto just to get an idea on the kind of cost saving you could experience.
Coffee Machine Pros: The Advantages of the Saeco Minuto
You can be assured that I’m likely one of the most impartial people when it comes to coffee. Yes, I surely do appreciate coffee, and working in the industry has broadened my horizons and understanding of coffee incomprehensibly. But at the end of the day, I will choose my lemon flavoured tea over a cup of espresso any day. It’s what I like – easy as that. Now, staying on that same train of thought – I can say that the pro’s and con’s listed above are open to consideration. For instance, we know the Saeco Minuto is a bit loud when grinding and brewing your coffee. But, if you’re a person who has their stereo at full blast all day, this isn’t a downfall for you. So consider the pro’s and con’s in a personal capacity and see which of the two outweighs the other. We consider the following to be advantages of the Saeco Minuto Coffee Machine:
1) Cost; in this comparative report – we break down the costs of various machines. Bearing in mind the Saeco Minuto is a one-touch, bean-to-cup coffee machine, your price payable for quality coffee s considerably low. More bang for your buck, right here.
2) When renting a Saeco, you’re buying yourself peace of mind in that if anything goes wrong with the machine (which, inevitably, happens to all coffee machines) you have immediate after-sales service to fall back on. Also, with a product-subsidised rental, your product purchase may be sufficient to pay your coffee machine rental. Win win all the way.
3)Hot, hot coffee! This I can say from first-hand experience. Yes, it’s easy to pop your cappuccino into a microwave to get it up to your desired temperature, but why, when you can have a piping hot coffee in your hands form the word “go”?
4) Removable milk canister. This adds to the convenience and the aesthetic of the machine. It looks good without pipes hanging around all over the place; the convenience part comes into play in that the canister can be removed and stored in the fridge overnight – meaning no soured milk accidentally finding it’s way into your cup first thing in the morning.
5) Compact design. The Saeco Minuto stands only 32 cm high, it will fit nicely into the designated coffee machine spot in your home kitchen.
Coffee Machine Cons: The Disadvantages of the Saeco Minuto
Not everything that glitters is gold. We aren’t ashamed to admit the flaws of the Saeco Minuto; we’d rather bring this to your attention, because I can’t imagine much worse than being sold unicorns and rainbows – only to receive a pony and some highlighters. We discuss the downfalls of the Saeco Minuto here:
1) Colour options; unfortunately, the Saeco Minuto is only available in black. On the bright side, black goes with almost any other colour, but if aesthetic is of higher importance to you this could be a problem.
2) Maintenance, Ok – I’m not even going to try cover up this issue because you will find out sooner or later. This automatic bean-to-cup machine requires daily, weekly and monthly cleaning cycles.
3) Daily cleaning involves a basic rinse of the brewing system, removing and washing both the drip tray and the milk canister, as well as wiping down the removable brew group and grounds container. Yes, you can extend the time between cleaning’s of the brew group, but anything longer than a week is not recommended. Getting the brew group out is fairly simple, but replacing it can be tricky. Be sure to adjust the movable parts back to how they were before removing it, and use the “push” lever marked on the side to coax it back in.
4) Noise. The Saeco Minuto is a bit noisy for the 20 – 30 seconds it takes to grind and brew your coffee, so no midnight Latte’s here, ok?
5) Size. Confused? I don’t blame you. I listed size as an advantages less than 5 minutes ago, and here I list it as a disadvantage. I do so, because if you are in an office of the recommended maximum of 5 daily users for this machine, you may find yourself irritated in having to refill the water canister, clean or allow for heating between cups. This, however, is a small disadvantage and as they say – patience is a virtue.
