Tips & Tricks – Coffee Vending Machine Maintenance
Yummy coffee at the touch of a button is what most “9-5’ers” dream of, but what if you’re the unfortunate colleague who’s been assigned the duty of keeping the machine clean?
Or even better – are you the person who has to train the team on how to keep the machine in tip top shape?
Here’s a quick list of 5 quick things you can do to make sure your coffee vending machine working as hard (and as well) as you do!
How To Keep Your Coffee Vending Machine Clean
1) Rinse, rinse, rinse! This is the easiest way to keep your machine at it’s best – because it helps in preventing any clogging and backup in the first place. Locating the single button that performs a basic rinse is your first port of call.
2) Wipe down your mixing bowls – which are located at the end of the spout out of which your dry product is dispensed and mixed together – and if your product starts to clog up in there you’ll need to remove it entirely and rinse it out. A wipe down between each 10 – 20 cups should prevent that. Just remember – if the mixing bowl needs to be rinsed, allow it to fully air dry before adding back into your machine.
3) Keep your product canisters topped up; it’s frustrating selecting a drink that’s on display and having only half the drink dispensed. Make sure your canisters are filled properly – and re-inserted in the right order!
4) Keep an ye on the water supply. Most vending machines cannot detect when water is low (only high-end machines like Jura’s have this capability) – so your machine might accidentally allow for a drink to be dispensed, but run out of water a few ml’s in. This can cause two major issues – firstly – the dry product dispensed will not have enough water to fill properly and WILL clog – and also – some vending machines will then present an error because the pump cannot pull up any water. Rather keep the H20 on the ready than sit through all of that.
5) Keep the outside tidy! Wipe down the spout, empty out the drip tray and give the outside of the machine a general wipe over at least every day. The less chance product and dirt has to build up on your machine – the better it is for everyone.
